Fundraising fashion show for Portsmouth grammar SchoolJunior School Association at Portsmouth Grammar School

The Fashion Show was held in their large purpose built prestigious theatre.

The staging had already been set up prior to our arrival, and the tables needed to display the smaller items of clothing were brought in from the neighbouring refectory. To use the space more effectively Jas fashions rearranged the catwalk, so that it passed under a line of theatre lights with chairs arranged either side of the walk way.

Outfits were prepared for the models – 20 children – mainly girls aged between 8 - 10 years of age and 3 boys all aged 8/9 years. The seven lady models were mainly staff plus one mum and a grandma whose daughter and granddaughter had talked her into it!

The ladies enjoyed selecting their outfits, mixing tops and skirts, with such enthusiasm they managed to select 3 outfits each!!

The younger models were so excited when their clothes were chosen for them that there was lots of giggling and laughter – particularly when some were asked to wear pyjamas for a second outfit.

The 3 brave boys were each given their outfits and Danny was so thrilled with his that his mother bought it for him after the show.

Our compere for the evening was an ex pupil – now asked back time and time again to host many events – he has a great talent for relating to both audience and participants alike. He was an excellent choice.

The rehearsal over and the audience started to arrive. Drinks and nibbles were served in the refectory and raffle tickets sold.

The models dressed in their first outfits, lined up and the show began. The boys and girls were so confident walking up and down the catwalk and one brave enough to take off her denim coat and toss it over her shoulder for her stroll back along the catwalk. She received a loud round of applause and was delighted!

The audience enjoyed selecting their purchases after the show. Many of the models bought their outfits and the audience looked for their favourite ones from the rails of clothing in the hall.

A most sociable and glamorous evening in a very prestigious building.
