Dogmersfield Primary School, Dogmersfield, Hampshire.

Raising funds for a new school hall was the priority for Dogmersfield Primary School. Following a
visit to see JAS Fashion Shows at another local school the parent organiser, Debora, felt their
school could benefit from a fun and enjoyable event that will include children and mums of the school.
The quality and selection of the clothes and also the way the evening was organised impressed Debora.
After phoning JAS Fashion Shows to check availability a JAS Fashion Show and Clothes Sale was booked
for early Spring.
Heavy snow was forecast on the day of the sale – however all the preparations had been done
– Debora and her committee had worked hard. Posters were displayed, letters sent to parents
and models recruited from throughout the school. Mums teachers volunteered to model, and children were
chosen. This school only has 99 children and the committee had sold over 75 adult tickets.
To make the event special Debora had enlisted the support of a high street hairdressing salon to
style the ladies hair and had also printed a programme detailing all the models. Cards had been prepared
to give the likes and aspirations of the models – all little extras that made the evening special.
A fantastic raffle had been organised with prizes for children and the adults. This also helped
to raise extra funds.
Debora had included an initial glass of wine in with the ticket
price and the refreshments were to be in room away from the clothes.
The models started to arrive and the ladies enjoyed having the freedom of the stock to select two outfits.
They all looked super. The long line flared denim skirt looked great on the teacher who stood in
for a model at the last minute; she had just the right coloured red
boots to go with a red top and white linen wide leg trousers!
The rehearsal went well – and the audience arrived for a prompt start.
At the last minute two of the little girls suffered from stage fright - lucky for them their mums were
also modelling so JAS Fashions had two mother and daughter groups on the catwalk with some very proud
dads in the audience!
The sale proved successful – most popular line of the evening being the ex Gap printed cotton capri
girls pants – plus the boys Bart Simpson T Shirts and girls Barbie tops.
At the end of the evening Debora and her committee were pleased with the total amount raised –
a good start to their new hall rebuilding costs and they are talking about hosting another JAS Fashion
Show in 18 months time.
