Aldryngton Primary School – Earley, Reading
Aldryngton Primary School booked Jas Fashions after the children had expressed an interest in holding a fashion show.
Year 3 designed their own press cuttings and pictures advertising the event. These were displayed on the school hall doors and the artwork was something to been seen to be believed. A very high standard!
Jas Fashions arrived and set up in the school hall ready to meet the models. It was not clear how many people were expected in the audience so enough chairs were left at an accessible place in case they were required.
The children models arrived and were really excited – the clothes were distributed and the children sat quietly watching a video until it was time for the rehearsal.
The lady models found it very easy to select their outfits and all looked very stylish.
The comperes for the night were to be two year six children, Stephanie and Harrison. They were very able and confident young people, who with the assistance of the Headteacher, conducted the evening with style.
During the rehearsal it was evident that the school was to have a large audience as the foyer soon became crowded with parents and children. The school had charged £2.00 entry fee for adults and were allowing the children in without charge. A free glass of wine was included in the ticket price.
After the rehearsal the audience was admitted and all the extra chairs were needed with some people were standing at the back. With so many people – it was a great atmosphere.
The show started, the comperes read confidently and apart from one little girl model who was sick because she was overcome with excitement – all went smoothly!
The school held the event as a social evening rather than a main fund raiser. However, the amount raised was a welcome boost towards their interactive whiteboards project.
